This Returns and Refund Policy explains your rights and our obligations regarding returns, cancellations, and refunds for orders placed with Mint Plates (“we”, “us”, “our”).
It applies to all road-legal number plates, custom number plates, and related accessories purchased through our website.
At Mint Plates, we aim to make our returns and refund process fair, transparent, and simple for every customer across the UK.
2. Cancellation & Change of Mind
Because custom and road-legal number plates are made to your specific requirements, once production begins, you cannot cancel the order or request a refund simply because you’ve changed your mind.
If you wish to cancel an order before production starts, contact us immediately at sale@mintplates.com.
If production has already begun, cancellation may not be possible.
3. Returns and Refund Policy for Road-Legal and Custom Plates
If a plate arrives faulty, incorrectly produced, or damaged, and the issue is our fault, you are entitled to a replacement or refund.
Claims must be submitted within 14 days of receiving your order. Please email sale@mintplates.com with your order number, full details of the issue, and photographic evidence.
If approved, we will either:
Remake and dispatch a corrected plate at no extra cost; or
Refund the purchase price to your original payment method (usually within 5 working days).
For plates lost or damaged in transit, we will investigate and apply the same returns and refund policy process.
4. Returns and Refunds for Accessories & Non-Custom Items
For products that are not personalised (for example, mounting kits or accessories), you have a 14-day return period from the date of receipt.
Items must be unused, in original packaging, and in good condition. Notify us at sale@mintplates.com within 14 days to initiate a return, then send the goods back within another 14 days.
You are responsible for return shipping unless the item is faulty or incorrectly supplied.
Delivery costs are refunded only if the product was faulty or wrong.
5. Non-Eligible for Refund or Return
Refunds or returns will not be accepted if:
The plate was made to your exact specification (e.g., personalised registration or design), and you changed your mind.
The error resulted from incorrect details you provided (e.g., wrong registration or spacing).
More than 14 days have passed since delivery (for non-custom items).
The goods were used, damaged, or altered after receipt.
6. How to Request a Return or Refund
To start a return or refund request, please:
Email sale@mintplates.com with your order number, purchase date, and a description of the issue (include photos where possible).
Wait for our confirmation and return instructions.
Once the return is received and checked, we will confirm the outcome and issue your refund or replacement.
This returns and refund policy ensures all claims are handled promptly and fairly.
7. Refund Processing
Approved refunds will be sent to your original payment method unless otherwise agreed.
Processing time depends on your payment provider.
We may deduct a small restocking or administration fee for non-custom goods that don’t meet our return standards (you will be informed beforehand).
8. Shipping and Return Costs
Faulty or wrongly supplied items: Mint Plates covers return shipping within the UK mainland.
Non-faulty returns (non-custom items): You pay return shipping and, if free delivery was applied, the original delivery cost may be deducted from your refund.

We may revise this Returns and Refund Policy at any time to reflect business or legal changes.
The version displayed on our website at the time of purchase will apply to your order.
